Die vier Elemente der antiken Mythologie sind seit jeher eine unerschöpfliche Quelle für Künstler und Dichter – nicht zuletzt auch für Goethe, in dessen West-östlichem Divan sie heimlich mitwirken. Dieser Zyklus nimmt als Motto das Gedicht »Alleben« aus dem Divan und widmet jedem Element – Feuer, Wasser, Luft und Erde – je drei Radierungen in Simultanfarbdruck.
Der Zyklus wurde erstmals als Prototyp im Herbst 2005 im Museum der Arbeit, Hamburg, gezeigt; die Auflage entstand 2007.
Über den ZyklusEdition von 25 numerierten und signierten Exemplaren, 2007, plus 2 Künstlerexemplare (épreuves d’artiste/ EA) und 1 hors-commerce; Exemplare 1 – 10 als geschlossene Reihe mit Titel-Doppelblatt in einer Kassette.
Die höheren Nummern sind aufgeteilt und als Einzelblätter erhältlich.
Papier für Radierungen und Titelseite: BFK Vélin Arches blanc; für die Kassetten-Paneele: eigens gefertigtes Knitterpapier von Susanne Krause.
Das Gedicht »Alleben« von Goethe wurde aus der Garamond (20 Pkt.) im Museum der Arbeit, Hamburg, von Caroline Saltzwedel handgesetzt und gedruckt.Die Radierungen sind auf Einzelblättern von der Künstlerin in der Simultanfarbentechnik gedruckt.

The Four Elements of ancient mythology have been a timeless source of inspiration to painters and poets alike – not least Goethe, whose West-östlicher Divan [West-Eastern Divan] is only one work in which their presence is felt. This cycle dedicates three etchings to each of the elements Fire, Water, Air and Earth (the order they appear in German), and is prefaced by the poem »Allleben« from the Divan.
Edition of 25 numbered and signed copies, 2005, plus two artist’s proofs (épreuves d’artiste/ EA) und one hors-commerce.
Numbers 1 – 10 appear as a complete boxed cycle with a double title page; numbers 11 – 25 are available as separate prints.
